Keiko Matsui is a Japanese keyboardist and composer born July 26, 1961 in Tokyo, known for blending smooth jazz, new age, pop, R&B and Asian influences. She began piano at age six and studied at the Yamaha Music Foundation, developing eclectic tastes from Stevie Wonder and Chick Corea to Rachmaninoff and Sibelius. She won the Oasis award for Best Female Smooth Jazz Artist in 1999 and 2000, and her 2001 album Deep Blue topped Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart
