Nas, born Nasir Jones in 1973, is an American rapper who grew up in the Queensbridge housing projects of Queens, New York. The son of jazz musician Olu Dara, he released his debut album Illmatic in 1994, a record widely regarded as one of the most influential in hip hop history.
