Val (Valerie) Mindel is an American traditional singer, teacher, and workshop leader known for the close, buzzy harmony that anchors old-time and early country singing. A founding member of the California-based Any Old Time string band, she performs and records with her daughter, old-time country musician Emily Miller, and teaches at music camps across the U.S. and abroad including Ashokan, Augusta Heritage Center, and Centrum. She is also the author of So You Want to Sing Folk Music for the National Association of Teachers of Singing
