The experience
What's special
Apocalypse, presented by Bassrush (Insomniac's bass-music brand), is an all-bass festival staged against the historic Queen Mary ocean liner on the Long Beach waterfront. Themed as a post-apocalyptic 'Zombie Apocalypse,' it delivers riddim, dubstep, drum & bass, experimental and other low-end genres across multiple stages with heavy production, pyro and costumed 'zombie' performers roaming the grounds. A dedicated drum & bass stage is a signature draw for bass-music fans
What people love
Attendees repeatedly praise the Queen Mary waterfront as one of their favorite venues, the crowd's friendly PLUR vibe, and especially the dedicated drum & bass stage and its programming. Many call it the one Insomniac festival they still return to every year. Common criticisms are inconsistent sound levels between stages (better by day two in some years) and long walks from parking
Last time around (2026)
Recent editions at the Queen Mary Waterfront featured stacked bass lineups; the 2026 Zombie Apocalypse bill included names such as Excision B2B Wooli, Space Laces, Virtual Riot, Zomboy, Riot Ten and a deep drum & bass roster, with attendees singling out the dedicated DnB stage as a highlight. The event moved into a larger amphitheater footprint with added seating that fans welcomed
