Age, licensing and hygiene

Age and ID

Attendance has no age limit. The official FAQ page, which is the page linked from the site navigation, states that all attendees over the age of 16 need a ticket. A second page on the same domain gives the threshold as 13, but that page is not linked anywhere in the site navigation and its own footer labels it a concept landing page, so 16 is the figure from the canonical source. Neither page states a minimum age to be tattooed and neither states an ID requirement; tattooing eligibility is left to Texas law and to each artist's own rules

The organiser publishes nothing on sterilisation or autoclave procedure, single-use or disposable needle policy, bloodborne pathogen training, glove and sharps handling, Texas Department of State Health Services licensing or health-permit statement, client consent forms, aftercare guidance, minimum age to be tattooed and ID requirement. Ask the artist you are booking with, and expect a licensed booth to answer without hesitating.

The experience

What's special

This is a curated, artist-led weekend rather than a trade show: 350+ hand-selected artists, live tattooing, live painting, tattoo contests, artist spotlights, food trucks, a full bar and a vendor floor. A first-time visitor can attend without an appointment to watch, meet artists, see the art and shop; a confirmed tattoo requires contacting the artist directly before the event. Walk-up flash may be available, but the organizer says availability is artist-dependent and arriving early gives the widest choice

What happens on the floor

Tattoo convention

The core format: artists take a booth for the weekend and work on the open floor, with the public walking through.

Live tattooing

Pieces go on in the open, start to finish. You can watch, and talk to artists between clients.

Tattoo contests

Finished and same-day work is judged on stage in named categories, usually late in the day.

Live painting

Artists painting away from the machine, with the work usually for sale at the end.

Getting tattooed here

Before you go

Admission gets you through the door, not into a chair. Tattoo work is arranged with the artist, not with the show.

Booking ahead

Each artist books their own appointments. For a confirmed appointment before the event, the organizer directs visitors to contact the artist they want directly; the show does not broker bookings

Walk-ups on the day

During the show some artists may have pre-drawn flash available to be tattooed as walk-up pieces. Availability is artist-dependent and the organizer publishes no per-artist walk-up or books-open state

Who is tattooing

Captured from the official booth map directory on the show's opening day. The organizer publishes no studio affiliations and no per-artist booking or walk-up state

320 artists are listed for this edition, with booth numbers and Instagram handles where the show publishes them.

A to Copen
D to Fopen
G to Jopen
K to Mopen
N to Ropen
S to Zopen

A further 32 names hold a spot on the floor map without appearing on the published artist roster. Most are traders and stands rather than tattooers.

The official booth map is where the floor plan and booth numbers come from.

Seminars

Teaching sessions for working artists. These are booked and paid for separately from show admission, and admission does not include them.
