The experience

What's special

The Brazilian Festival of Worcester is a free, one-day celebration of Brazilian culture held each September at Institute Park in Worcester, Massachusetts. Running since 2010, it draws several thousand visitors for samba parades and capoeira rodas, live forro, MPB, axe and samba on the main stage, and authentic Brazilian street food from pao de queijo and coxinha to feijoada and acai, alongside an artisan market and a large children's area. The 2026 edition centers a special tribute to the state of Bahia

Last time around (2025)

The 2025 festival was held September 14 at Institute Park and was expected to draw about 2,000 people, with an area of children's activities among the day's offerings. Local coverage captured attendees enjoying the international, multi-country atmosphere, with one visitor calling it 'awesome' and praising the chance to see people and traditions from different countries

Getting there

How do I get to Brazilian Festival of Worcester?

By car

Most people drive to Brazilian Festival of Worcester. Check current road and traffic conditions before you set off, and see parking below.

By train
MBTA Commuter Rail (Framingham/Worcester Line) + Amtrak Lake Shore Limited -> Worcester Union Station~1h20m Boston South Station to Worcester Union Station by Commuter Rail, plus a short last mile to Institute Park · MBTA Commuter Rail Boston South Station <-> Worcester ~$12.25 one-way (Zone 8; confirm current fare); Amtrak fares vary

For a visitor flying into Boston Logan (BOS, ~50 mi east, far more service than the small local airport), the cleanest car-free route is the MBTA Commuter Rail Framingham/Worcester Line from Boston South Station to Worcester Union Station downtown. Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited also stops at Union Station. From Union Station, Institute Park is ~1.5 mi north, a short rideshare, a WRTA local-bus hop, or a ~30 min walk

By bus & public transit
WRTA (Worcester Regional Transit Authority) Route 2 from Worcester Regional Airport (ORH) + local WRTA routesORH to Union Station ~10-15 min; Union Station to Institute Park a further short hop · WRTA local fixed-route fare (small flat fare); confirm current fare at therta.com

If flying into the small Worcester Regional Airport (ORH, ~4 mi, served by JetBlue/American/Delta), WRTA Route 2 runs from the airport to Union Station downtown, where local WRTA routes fan out toward the Institute Park / WPI area. IMPORTANT: Route 2 runs Monday-Saturday and does NOT operate on Sundays, and this festival falls on a Sunday (Sept 13), so plan on rideshare or a car from ORH that day rather than the airport bus

Book / info →
Taxi & rideshare
Uber / Lyft / local taxisA few minutes from ORH to Institute Park; ~1 hr from Boston Logan by car · App-quoted (rideshare) / metered (taxi); short trip from ORH, a longer/pricier ~50 mi trip from Boston Logan

Uber and Lyft operate throughout Worcester and at both ORH and Boston Logan; taxis serve both airports. For a Sunday arrival at ORH (when the airport bus is not running) this is the practical door-to-door option to Institute Park

Book / info →

Taxis and rideshare such as Uber and Lyft can be limited near the venue, especially late at night or in rural areas. Agree a pickup point and time in advance and keep a backup plan.

🅿 Parking

On site parking available. This is a free festival in Institute Park (a public park bordered by Park Ave and Salisbury St, near WPI). Parking is the free on-street parking around the park and nearby streets rather than a festival-run lot, the closest blocks fill during peak hours, so arrive early or be ready to walk a few blocks. The official festival site publishes no specific parking guidance; confirm any street closures nearer the date

🚙 Car hire

Compare car hire

Useful for fly-in attendees, especially a Sunday arrival at Worcester Regional (ORH) when the airport bus doesn't run, or for anyone flying into Boston Logan and driving the ~50 mi out to Worcester rather than taking the Commuter Rail

Worcester has a moderate short-term-rental supply spread across the city, including apartments and homes near WPI and the Institute Park neighborhood itself, a walkable option for anyone wanting to be steps from the festival. Central Massachusetts has scattered Hipcamp farm and woodland sites out beyond the Worcester metro (toward the Quabbin and the Blackstone Valley), but nothing in the city itself, better suited to attendees pairing the festival with a New England outdoors trip than as an in-city alternative to a hotel.
