How do I get to East Maui Taro Festival?

Uber, Lyft, taxis and Maui's holoholo pre-scheduled rideshare pick up just outside OGG baggage claim, but a car all the way to Hana is a long (2.5-3 hour), expensive one-way trip on the Hana Highway rather than a short airport transfer. Most fly-in attendees rent a car instead; a pre-arranged car service is mainly for those who prefer not to drive the highway themselves

A rental car is the practical way to reach Hana. From Kahului Airport (OGG) it is the famous Hana Highway (Hwy 36/360) roughly 50-64 miles of winding coast road with around 620 curves and 59 one-lane bridges. Fill up in Paia (about 15-20 minutes from the airport), as there is little fuel between there and Hana. A standard rental car handles the paved road fine
