The Famous Food Festival is a large 'Taste the World' food festival held in the parking lots of the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park on Long Island, gathering 100-plus food trucks and vendors of international cuisines alongside live music, drink samplings, kids' rides and games. It runs as a walk-through tasting event where visitors pay admission and then buy sample-sized portions from the vendors

The draw for fans is the sheer breadth of international street food and vendors in one place, plus family-friendly extras like rides, games and face painting; several regulars say the trick is to arrive right at opening, before the crowds and lines build
Last time around (2024)
Recent editions drew a sharply divided response. Fans found plenty of cuisines to graze and brought kids for the rides and games, but a recurring set of complaints hardened around value and crowds: an admission charge on top of paying for every sample, food that many judged mediocre for the price, heavy crowding with long lines at peak hours, and a jammed parking lot that could take a long time to clear. Attendees widely advised going early to beat the worst of it

By bus & public transit
Deer Park has its own LIRR station on the Ronkonkoma Branch, and Tanger Outlets runs a complimentary shuttle between the Deer Park LIRR station and the shopping center during operating hours (final pickup at the center at closing). From ISP, reach the LIRR via the Ronkonkoma station (a ~$5 Village taxi shuttle or short rideshare, or Suffolk County Transit Route 6) and ride west to Deer Park; from JFK/LGA, connect to the LIRR toward Ronkonkoma and get off at Deer Park. This train-plus-free-shuttle combo is the standout transit option for a car-free visit

Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip is the closest airport, roughly 12-15 miles east of Tanger Outlets Deer Park a short rideshare or taxi straight to the outlets is the simplest door-to-door option. ISP has limited commercial service, though, so many out-of-region visitors fly JFK or LGA instead (see the LIRR option and the note below)

From either, the practical routes to Deer Park are a rideshare/taxi east on the LIE (traffic-dependent, can be long) or a connection onto the LIRR Ronkonkoma Branch to Deer Park station plus the free Tanger shuttle

Arrive earlier on peak Columbus Day-weekend festival days, when the lot is busy with both shoppers and festival-goers; overflow spreads across the mall's outer lots. Follow on-site signage and any event marshaling. For a car-free visit, the LIRR-to-Deer-Park-station plus the complimentary Tanger shuttle is a genuine alternative
