The Florida Seafood Festival is Florida's oldest maritime festival, held the first weekend of November under the shady oaks of Battery Park at the mouth of the Apalachicola River a free, two-day, small-town celebration of the Forgotten Coast's fishing heritage that the 2026 edition marks as the 63rd annual. Oysters are the star, with famous oyster-shucking and oyster-eating contests, alongside blue crab races, a parade, the 5K Redfish Run, the History of the Festival exhibit and the colorful Blessing of the Fleet, where clergy bless the town's passing shrimp, oyster and fishing boats. The 2026 edition carries added significance: Apalachicola Bay's commercial oyster harvest returns after a five-year, state-mandated closure to let the beds recover

It ran during the years when Apalachicola Bay's wild oyster harvest was still closed for restoration, making the seafood largely sourced from elsewhere on the Gulf a backdrop that shifts for 2026 as the local commercial harvest reopens
