Getting there

How do I get to Hawaii Salsa & Bachata Congress?

By car

Most people drive to Hawaii Salsa & Bachata Congress. Check current road and traffic conditions before you set off, and see parking below.

By train

No direct passenger rail to the venue was found. Drive, fly in, or use a shuttle instead.

By bus & public transit
TheBus (City and County of Honolulu, Route 20)45-60 min including stops · $3 one-way (cash or HOLO smart card)

Route 20 runs from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) via downtown Honolulu, Kakaako and Ala Moana Center into Waikiki, with stops on Kalakaua Avenue near the Sheraton Waikiki. The stop is on Nimitz Highway outside the terminal complex, a 5-10 minute walk from baggage claim. Note the strict one-carry-on-bag limit (no large checked luggage). After 10:30pm, Route 42 serves Waikiki instead

Festival shuttle
SpeediShuttle / Roberts Hawaii Express (commercial shared-ride vans)45-75 min depending on stops · $16-25 per person one-way (2 bags included)

Shared-ride airport vans widely used for the HNL-to-Waikiki run; book online in advance and they drop at hotels throughout Waikiki, including the Sheraton Waikiki. These are commercial services, not congress- or venue-operated

Taxi & rideshare
Uber / Lyft / metered taxi (Charley's Taxi flat-rate option)25-40 min depending on traffic · Uber/Lyft $25-50 depending on demand; metered taxi $40-60; Charley's Taxi flat rate ~$29

Metered taxis are available curbside; Charley's Taxi offers a flat rate to Waikiki. The Sheraton Waikiki is about 9 miles / 30 minutes from the airport

Taxis and rideshare such as Uber and Lyft can be limited near the venue, especially late at night or in rural areas. Agree a pickup point and time in advance and keep a backup plan.

🅿 Parking

On site parking available. Prepay via Sheraton Waikiki (host hotel) front desk. The congress is held inside the host hotel, so on-site hotel parking is the venue parking. Waikiki parking is expensive across the board; many attendees skip a car entirely given the walkable Waikiki setting and airport shuttle/rideshare options. The Sheraton Princess Kaiulani (an official block hotel a short walk away) also offers self-parking at $55/day

🚙 Car hire

Compare car hire

Low priority for the congress itself: it is a multi-day event held entirely inside a walkable Waikiki beachfront hotel, with $55-65/day parking, so a car is a cost rather than a convenience for the event. A hire car only makes sense for attendees wanting to explore the rest of Oahu around the congress

Airbnb & private camping
Airbnb

Waikiki and greater Honolulu have large short-term-rental inventory, but for a hotel-based dance congress the official room block inside/near the venue is usually the better value once resort-fee waivers are counted. Note Hawaii short-term-rental rules are restrictive in many areas; verify a listing is legally permitted before booking. Airbnb suits attendees wanting a kitchen or a longer Oahu stay around the event

Hipcamp

Not a realistic option for this event, it is a beachfront-hotel dance congress in urban Waikiki. Oahu Hipcamp inventory is limited and rural (private-land and glamping sites away from Honolulu, mostly windward/North Shore), so it is only an alternative for attendees wanting a separate camping trip around the island, not a substitute for a Waikiki hotel.
