The Lowcountry Oyster Festival, which its organizers call the world's largest oyster festival, serves more than 45,000 pounds of oysters on the grounds of Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, just outside Charleston. The 42nd festival, on Sunday, February 28, 2027, has live music on the main stage, oyster eating and shucking contests, wine, beer and specialty cocktails, a food court of local restaurants and a children's area called Pluff-a-Palooza. It is run by the Charleston Restaurant Foundation, whose fundraising the organizer says has given more than $1.5 million to local charities.
How it works
The festival is a one-day Sunday event. Parking is free, with attendants guiding cars to a spot, but there is no preferred parking, so the organizer recommends a rideshare: drivers use the main entrance on Long Point Road, and a second entrance is on US Highway 17. Accessible parking is available. Tickets are sold online through the festival's ticketing partner.
