The experience
What's special
Founded in 2002 as the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival and Miniature Golf Tournament, Out of Bounds grew from seven local improv troupes over two nights at Austin's Hideout Theatre into a seven-day, multi-venue institution mixing improv, sketch and standup, with past headliners including Maria Bamford, The Groundlings, Michelle Wolf, Amber Ruffin, Tim Meadows and the writers of Key & Peele. Now run as a non-profit and back from a pandemic-era hiatus, the festival returns closer to its roots a pared-down, more potent combination of A-list and rising talent from Austin and far beyond, with around 75 acts on the 2026 bill
