SXSW turns downtown Austin into a week-long music, film and technology festival each March. Its Music Festival & Conference brings more than 1,000 bands from 83 countries to 57 stages, mixing legends with emerging acts in showcases across the city's clubs, alongside more than 75 conference sessions, mentor sessions, demo listening and workshops for working musicians. Past alumni the festival names include Amy Winehouse, Metallica, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish and Cardi B. SXSW 2027 runs March 15 to 21; the showcasing artists are announced in the run-up.

Access is by badge rather than a single ticket: the Music badge is $695 at the early rate and covers the showcases, demo listening, the official music opening party and the conference, while the Platinum badge at $1,595 opens every part of SXSW, including film and innovation.
