The experience
What's special
Historic downtown Weslaco celebrates the Texas 1015 onion, developed locally and designated the state vegetable, with cooking demonstrations, an eating contest, live stages, horses, rides and a market
What people love
The crop story is unusually specific: visitors are tasting a named onion variety with a direct Weslaco origin rather than a generic festival theme
