What's special
THE FEST (widely known as 'Fest') is an independent, DIY multi-day, multi-venue punk festival held every fall across bars, clubs and music halls in downtown Gainesville, Florida, with roots in the local No Idea Records scene of the early 2000s. A single wristband lets attendees roam between dozens of walkable venues, with the bigger names tending to play Bo Diddley Plaza, to catch hundreds of punk, ska, hardcore and related bands over three days. It draws a devoted, international crowd, with fans travelling from as far as Australia and New Zealand

Attendees describe Fest as an awesome, almost addictive experience and prize its scrappy, heartfelt DIY character and the sheer volume of quality bands packed into a walkable downtown, with three-day passes routinely selling out well in advance. The multi-venue format, where a wristband opens the door to any show not already at capacity, is central to the appeal

The most recent edition, Fest 23, took place in Gainesville over a weekend in late 2025; press coverage called it a unique and amazing experience with an abundance of great music across the downtown venues. IMPORTANT for this festival: parking is FREE on weekends and city-observed holidays (except the SW Garage) since THE FEST runs Fri-Sun (Oct 23-25, 2026), Saturday/Sunday parking is complimentary citywide per this policy; only Friday would carry weekday rates. Prepay via PassportParking® app (city-installed solar pay stations also take card/coin), per Main Street Daily News' coverage of the City of Gainesville's downtown parking rollout. THE FEST's own FAQ recommends parking at your accommodation/campsite and using other modes (walking/rideshare) given downtown congestion during the event, rather than driving venue-to-venue
