What should I bring to a camping festival?
Beyond the day-festival basics, a camping weekend needs: a tent you have pitched at least once before, stakes and a mallet, a sleeping bag rated for the season, a sleeping pad (the ground is colder than you think), a headlamp, a cooler with ice plans, a camp chair, sun shelter or tarp, baby wipes, trash bags, and double the water you expect to drink. Most festivals publish a prohibited-items list, so check it before buying anything like camp stoves or generators, which are often restricted.

Should I car camp or tent camp at a festival?
Where it's offered, car camping means your vehicle sits at your campsite: easier hauling, a lockable place for valuables, and a backup sleeping spot in bad weather. Classic tent camping usually means carrying gear from a parking lot, sometimes a long way, but the camp scene is often livelier. How do I sleep comfortably at a festival campground?
Three things decide whether you sleep: insulation under you, warmth over you, and noise. Bring a sleeping pad or air mattress (ground cold is the most common first-timer surprise), a bag rated about 10 degrees colder than the forecast low, and earplugs plus an eye mask, since campgrounds are bright and loud until late. A small battery fan helps in summer heat. Set your tent up with the door away from foot traffic, and stake it properly even in calm weather.

What kind of tent do I need for a festival?
For most festival camping, a 3-season dome tent one size up from your headcount works best: a "4-person" tent genuinely fits 2 people plus gear. Look for a full rain fly, taped seams, and aluminum poles if wind is likely. Darker or blackout fabric helps you sleep past sunrise. Pop-up tents are fine for calm weather but struggle in storms. If the festival offers pre-pitched or glamping options, they cost more but remove the setup entirely. Practice pitching once at home; arriving after dark is common.
