Festival Weather
How do I handle a hot or desert festival?
Heat is the most underestimated festival risk. Drink water steadily rather than in bursts, add electrolytes once a day, and eat even when you don't feel hungry. Shade is worth more than any gadget: a wide-brim hat, UPF shirt, and a shade structure at camp change the whole weekend. Plan hard activity for morning and evening, rest midday, and know where the festival's water refill and medical stations are before you need them. Sunscreen every two hours, including cloudy days.

What if it rains at the festival?
Most festivals run rain or shine and only pause for lightning. A packable rain jacket beats an umbrella (often banned and always in someone's view). Waterproof boots or shoes you don't mind ruining handle mud better than sneakers. Keep your phone in a zip bag, and line your backpack with a trash bag. At camp, a tarp under and over the tent is cheap insurance. Severe-weather instructions come from the festival's official channels, so turn on their notifications.
