A little history
The hotel occupies the historic Hill building, converted from a single-purpose commercial space into a multi-use cultural centre. The old bank vault survives inside, with an installation from the Unswept Floor series beside it, and the guest rooms keep the building's Art-Deco elements.
Today it runs as a hotel of 125 rooms and suites with contemporary art galleries and gallery event spaces, rooted in downtown Durham and the Research Triangle.
