Getting there and parking
The Eagle House is at 124 C Street, on the corner of 2nd and C Streets in Old Town Eureka. From Highway 101 turn onto F Street into Old Town, left on 2nd Street, right onto C Street and left into the city lot behind the building. The Arcata/Eureka airport (ACV) is 20 minutes north with rental cars; Greyhound, Amtrak, Uber, Lyft, local taxis and Humboldt Transit Authority buses all serve Eureka.
The City of Eureka lot directly behind the building charges Monday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm through the Passport Parking app and is free after 4pm and all day Sunday. Two free lots sit across the street next to Madaket Plaza, and there is street parking on 2nd and C Streets.
Accessibility
Ground floor entrances and exits are fully wheelchair accessible, wheelchair accessible elevators reach all levels from the ground floor, and a ramp runs from the ballroom into Phatsy Kline's. A little history
Finnish emigrants Henry and Elvira Tornroth built a hotel and restaurant on the corner of 2nd and C Streets in 1886 and named it the Eagle House; in 1893 they had it divided and rebuilt as a three storey hotel. The Cho family owned it from 1992 to 2017 and re-floored the theater ballroom with Blue Ox Millworks, and sisters Jennifer Metz and Rebecca Rex and their partners took over on March 6, 2017.
