Bio

Born Mark Anthony Myrie on July 15, 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica, Buju Banton rose to prominence in the early 1990s as one of dancehall's defining voices. His 1992 album Mr. Mention became the best-selling album in Jamaican history at the time. By the mid-1990s his music deepened through Rastafari influences on seminal roots-reggae works like 'Til Shiloh, and his 2010 album Before the Dawn won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
