The Charlie Hunter Trio was a jazz group led by American guitarist Charlie Hunter, formed in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1990s with saxophonist Dave Ellis and drummer Jay Lane. Hunter is known for playing custom seven- and eight-string guitars that let him perform bass lines and melodies at once. The trio released its self-titled debut in 1993, followed by Bing, Bing, Bing! in 1995.
