Common, born Lonnie Rashid Lynn on March 13, 1972, in Chicago, is an American rapper and actor associated with conscious and Midwestern hip-hop and neo soul. His discography includes acclaimed albums such as Like Water for Chocolate (2000) and Finding Forever (2007). He has won three Grammy Awards and an Academy Award, the latter for the song "Glory" from the 2014 film Selma.
