Bio

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band is a New Orleans traditional-jazz ensemble that began touring in 1963, created by Allan and Sandra Jaffe to spread the traditional jazz being revived at their French Quarter venue, Preservation Hall. Many of the band's charter members had played alongside the pioneers who invented jazz, and past leaders include brothers Willie and Percy Humphrey and pianist Sweet Emma Barrett. Since Allan Jaffe's death in 1987, leadership has passed to his son, tuba player Ben Jaffe, who has pushed the group to evolve while honoring its roots
