Slayer is an American thrash metal band formed in Huntington Park, California, in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman. Regarded as one of thrash metal's "big four" alongside Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax, the band is known for its fast, aggressive style. Its 1986 album Reign in Blood is widely cited as one of the most influential thrash metal records.
