Steel Pulse is a British roots reggae band formed in the Handsworth area of Birmingham, England in 1975 by David Hinds, Basil Gabbidon, and Ronald McQueen, known for socially conscious lyrics addressing political and cultural themes. In 1986 they became the first non-Jamaican act to win the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, for Babylon the Bandit. The band remains active, touring internationally and preserving the roots reggae tradition.
