Steve Earle is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born January 17, 1955, in Fort Monroe, Virginia, and raised near San Antonio, Texas, whose work bridges country, folk and rock. He broke through in the 1980s with the albums Guitar Town (1986) and Copperhead Road (1988); the Hardly Strictly Dukes is a configuration of his longtime backing band, the Dukes.
