Bio
Tank and the Bangas is a New Orleans band formed in 2011 at an open-mic night, fronted by poet and vocalist Tarriona "Tank" Ball, who won two National Poetry Slam championships in high school. The group fuses fiery soul, deft hip-hop, deep R&B and subtle jazz into a sound that evokes the full scope of New Orleans music. They won NPR's 2017 Tiny Desk Contest, earned a 2020 Best New Artist Grammy nomination, and won their first Grammy in 2025 for "The Heart, The Mind, The Soul."
