Bio
The Hip Abduction is an American band from St. Petersburg, Florida, formed in 2010 over a mutual appreciation for West African and early Jamaican reggae/dub music. Founding members David New and Chris Powers met in 2007 playing cover songs on the beach, and the collective fuses vibrant reggae and West African elements with bright indie pop. Their self-titled 2013 album debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Reggae chart, and they have toured with acts including Galactic, The Revivalists, and Ziggy Marley
