Willie Nelson, born in 1933 in Abbott, Texas, is an American country singer, songwriter, and guitarist who tours with his longtime backing band billed as Willie Nelson & Family. A central figure in the outlaw country movement, he recorded landmark albums such as Red Headed Stranger (1975) and Stardust (1978) and co-founded the Farm Aid benefit concerts in 1985.
