Farm Aid is an annual benefit concert founded in 1985 by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young to raise money and awareness for family farmers, and it has run every year since as a one-day traveling festival that rotates host cities. Beyond the music, its identity rests on the HOMEGROWN Village, a hands-on area of exhibits and activities about soil, water, food and farming, and HOMEGROWN Concessions, a food program built from ingredients grown by family farmers using ecological practices. Accessible parking is in lots A and B, entered via Concert Drive, and needs a state issued plate or placard; from lot B you enter directly through Rita Gate and from lot A through either the Main Entrance or Rita Gate. Both Rita Gate and the main gate are accessible entrances.
Guests who need assistance but have no placard are directed to the drop off locations and general parking; the rideshare and taxi drop off tent is at the main entrance via the Dam Neck Road entrance. On terrain, the venue states the lawn is not accessible, and accessible seating is sold at the lawn price in sections 201 and 205, with further ADA seating in sections 101 and 103.
Farm Aid adds that courtesy carts are offered for individuals with mobility needs and that assistance can be arranged on 757-368-3000. All ADA sections are wheelchair accessible with adjacent companion seating on open level spaces without assigned seat numbers, and accessible seating allows the person with accessibility needs plus one companion; there is no free companion ticket policy published.
Accessible restrooms are in both the Lake Plaza and Forest Plaza restroom buildings, with a private family restroom in the first aid area in the Lake Plaza. Assistive listening devices run on Listen Everywhere technology through your own phone, or a receiver from Guest Services in exchange for photo ID.
