The experience

What's special

Awesome Con is Washington DC's pop-culture convention, produced by LeftField Media, the same operator behind Rose City Comic Con in Portland, Anime NYC in New York and Anime Frontier in Fort Worth. The 2027 edition is confirmed for April 23 to 25 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, with Friday hours of 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and programming running until 10:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. The organizer's own homepage describes the show as bringing together more than 65,000 fans for comics, movies, TV, toys and games. The current Standard badge tier prices a single day at $66 for Friday, $75 for Saturday or $71 for Sunday, and the full 3 Day badge at $125, each plus a 6% service fee and 6% sales tax; a Child badge for ages 3 to 12 is $18 and a Family 4-Pack bundling two adult 3 Day badges with two Child badges is $260. Premium ($180), Club Awesome ($450) and the 'highly limited' Club Awesome Reserve ($1,080) sit above the standard range and add perks like early Exhibit Hall access, priority autograph and photo-op lines, and reserved Main Stage seating. Beyond its comics core, Awesome Con runs named tracks including the Science Fair, Book Fair, Awesome Con Jr for younger fans, Pride Alley curated by GeeksOUT, Anime Yokocho, and Destination Cosplay. Autographs and photo ops are a separate paid layer handled through the organizer's partner Epic Experiences once guests are announced, with send-in options through three further partners for fans who cannot attend, and CGC x JSA offers on-site authentication and grading for signed memorabilia. Cosplayers travel under LeftField Media's shared prop and weapons policy, which for Awesome Con specifically also folds in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center's own decency rules barring toplessness and requiring private parts covered by actual clothing; peace bonding and a visible badge are required throughout. The Walter E. Washington Convention Center publishes detailed accessibility features of its own, including a dedicated Premium & Accessibility Entrance on L Street, Accessibility Registration in Room 156, and ASL interpretation at every Main Stage panel. The show suits DC-area comics and pop-culture fans tracking a long-running regional convention, families drawn by the Child badge, Family 4-Pack and Awesome Con Jr programming, and fans chasing celebrity autographs and photo ops once each year's guest roster is announced

Accessibility & comfort

What the organiser or venue publishes about getting around, and what they do not.

Disability access

Awesome Con provides Accessibility and Companion wristbands (for one companion) to attendees who are hearing impaired or deaf, have a cognitive disability, are limited in mobility, or have a health condition that makes standing or crowds difficult, available at Accessibility Registration (Room 156), any Info Booth, or from staff.

Read the full notes

A dedicated Premium & Accessibility Entrance sits on L Street between 7th and 9th, closest to Accessibility Registration and scooter pickup, though attendees are not required to use it. Twelve metered public parking spaces near the venue are marked for disability placards on a first-come, first-served basis; there is no public parking inside the building.

An Autograph Return Time Wristband lets an ADA-wristband holder step out of an autograph line and be given a return time rather than stand the full queue. The organizer notes the venue covers 'over a quarter of a mile of walking' between Registration, the Main Stage and the Exhibit Hall, and does not provide wheelchairs or scooters directly, instead partnering with a third party for mobility-device delivery to a hotel or the venue

ASL

All Main Stage panels are ASL interpreted, with interpreters positioned near the stage and labelled seating nearby; other panels, autographs and photo ops get ASL support on a first-come, first-served basis via an application form, which read 'Form Closed For 2026, Please Head To Registration For Assistance' at capture

AgesAll attendees 3 and up need a badge; children 2 and under do not need one. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult, and the organizer recommends anyone under 18 attend with an adult
ChildrenAwesome Con Jr is a named recurring programming track for younger fans with its own page; a Child badge (ages 3-12) and a Family 4-Pack bundle (two adult 3 Day badges plus two Child badges) are both offered
