What's special
South Dakota's premier juried art festival, held the second full weekend of July in Pioneer Park in Brookings. Over 175 juried artists across roughly 15 disciplines fill the park alongside dozens of gourmet and ethnic food booths, an artisan-foods area, historic and antique booths, a children's activity area and free entertainment on three stages. Admission is free and it's run by volunteers
What people love
Attendees love the huge, eclectic variety of art, crafts and antiques and treat it as a cherished annual family tradition, with the abundant food booths (kettle corn, lefse and funnel cake get special mention) a highlight in their own right. Some note it leans more toward crafts than fine art, and that the park can get hot and crowded

Daily intercity coach on the I-29 corridor connects Sioux Falls to Brookings in about 55 minutes with no transfers. Note both endpoints carefully: the Sioux Falls stop is at 4110 Maples St Ste 108 NOT at the FSD terminal, so budget a short (~5 mi) taxi/rideshare hop from the airport to the bus stop and the Brookings stop is at 3045 Lefevre Dr on the east side of town by I-29 Exit 132, about 2.5 mi from Pioneer Park (the stop sits in the same block as the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express listed under lodging, which makes bus-in + east-side hotel a workable car-free combination; the final hop to the park needs a local taxi or the festival's $2 park-and-ride shuttle from the Ag Museum lot if you can get there)

Both Uber and Lyft serve FSD with a designated pickup/drop-off area on the center median outside the baggage-claim exit (drivers must be pre-matched in-app before entering the zone). Six local taxi companies are listed on the airport's official ground-transportation page. The drive to Brookings is roughly 55 miles straight up I-29; note that rideshare coverage IN Brookings itself is thin for the return leg, so a round-trip plan shouldn't assume an easy app-hail back to Sioux Falls

Cost Free on side streets and downtown public lots; localized pay-to-park lots north and northwest of the festival (including a paid lot at the United Living Center, 4th Street & 1st Avenue); official park-and-ride shuttle is $2.00 per person, per boarding, one-way. Free community festival with genuinely workable parking: public parking on side streets and downtown public lots, plus paid lots north/northwest of the festival footprint. Reserved handicap spaces sit on the east side of Pioneer Park at 2nd Avenue & 5th Street and on the west side off Western Avenue, with gate attendants assisting drivers. The festival also runs its own park-and-ride shuttle from the SD Agricultural Museum North Parking Lot (North Medary Avenue & 11th Street) Saturday 9:00am-8:00pm, Sunday 10:00am-5:30pm, $2.00 per person per boarding as the official congestion-beating alternative. No prepay platform; pay lots are pay-on-the-day. Parcel pick-up is on the west side of the park on Western Avenue (not allowed on 6th Street or 1st Avenue). Car hire is the primary fly-in option here: the venue is ~55 miles from FSD, the only scheduled transit link is one daily Jefferson Lines departure each way (which doesn't serve the airport terminal itself), and rideshare coverage in Brookings is thin.
