Its October-to-November run makes it one of the cooler-weather faires in the country, set against fall foliage, and it draws over 230,000 visitors a season. Do I need a costume?
Dressing up is entirely optional and attendees say you will not be out of place either way, the crowd runs from full renaissance garb to pop-culture costumes to everyday clothes, and regulars call it as much a costume party as a period faire. No rail reaches the festival itself. Amtrak's Charlotte station (1914 N. Tryon St) serves the Piedmont, Carolinian, and Crescent routes and sits about 20 miles south of the festival grounds, useful if you are arriving by rail from elsewhere in the Carolinas or the New York-New Orleans corridor, with a ~30 minute rideshare for the final leg to Huntersville

The organiser provides accessible parking and ADA compliant portable restrooms, and parking is free. Wheelchairs and other accessibility devices are encouraged. Strollers, wheelchairs, electric mobility scooters and wagons rent on a first come, first serve basis at the Belrose Costume Rental shop just outside the festival gates, weather permitting, priced at 30 dollars for a wheelchair and 65 dollars for a scooter with a 325 lb weight limit.
Service animals are welcome under the ADA definition of a dog or miniature horse individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability; emotional support, therapy, comfort and companion animals are not permitted.
