The Alabama Renaissance Faire is a free, all-volunteer Renaissance faire held every fourth weekend of October in Wilson Park, a one-city-block public park in downtown Florence, AL (renamed Fountaine-on-the-Green for the weekend). Founded in 1987 and designated the state's official Renaissance Faire, it is one of the longest-running all-volunteer events in the nation, run by a non-profit Roundtable whose mission is to educate about the Medieval and Renaissance eras (1100 to 1650). The 40th faire in 2026 offers free admission and free parking, 80+ artisans and food vendors, continuous performances on two stages and in the lanes, living-history encampments and sword combat, children's activities, and a Sunday coronation and procession, drawing 30,000-35,000 people each year across the weekend. It anchors Florence's month-long Renaissance Month, which also includes the ticketed Alabama Renaissance Feast and Queen's Tea Party the weekend before.
