The experience
What's special
A two-day Galveston Strand celebration where public chili tasting, formal judging and an indoor beer festival share the programme with a run, cornhole and merchant walkabout
What people love
The tasting route turns the historic district into a series of “pepper pit stops,” and visitors compare competition recipes rather than a single house chili
