The experience
What's special
Set in downtown Greenville, the Delta Hot Tamale Festival celebrates the Mississippi Delta's signature hot tamale, with dozens of vendors serving countless tamale varieties alongside live music, a parade, cooking and eating contests, and literary events that reflect the region's culture. A ticketed highlight is "Flavors of the Festival," a sit-down tasting where a selection of vendors' tamales is expertly paired with craft beers. Special events such as Flavors of the Festival require an Eventbrite ticket or a VIP sponsor pass, the latter worn around the neck in place of an armband
What people love
The festival has earned national recognition, with USA Today readers voting it the best specialty food festival in the country in 2026, and attendees describe it as huge fun, praising the tons of food and vendors and the chance to sample countless styles of Delta tamale in one place

🅿 Parking
On site parking available. This is a free downtown street festival, and parking is free on-street around the Main Street/Washington Avenue festival footprint and in nearby public lots (the organizer notes a loading/unloading lot behind Planters Bank at 424 Washington Avenue). Downtown Greenville is small and easy to park in; arrive a bit earlier on the busiest festival day (Saturday) and expect some Main Street closures within the event footprint. Confirm exact 2026 street closures/lot guidance with Main Street Greenville
🚙 Car hire
Compare car hire
Car hire is effectively required for fly-in attendees: the practical airport (MEM) is ~2 hours away and there is no transit, rail or intercity bus into Greenville. A rental from MEM down US-61 is the standard approach and pairs naturally with a wider Mississippi Delta blues/heritage road trip

Greenville and the surrounding Washington County Delta have modest short-stay inventory some downtown/historic homes handy to the festival footprint, plus rural Delta properties. In a small market, a fixed festival weekend can tighten availability, so book early; a downtown unit is the way to be walkable to Main Street. Link points to the Greenville Airbnb search
Search Airbnb →No camping at this downtown street festival. Hipcamp inventory around the Mississippi Delta is sparse and rural scattered private-land and farm sites out in the countryside and toward the river (a drive from town), for attendees pairing the weekend with a Delta road trip, not a walkable lodging substitute.
