How do I get to Chillits?
By car
Most people drive to Chillits. The nearest major airport is STS, and from there it is a straightforward drive to the venue. Check current road and traffic conditions before you set off, and see parking below.
By train
No direct passenger rail to the venue was found. Drive, fly in, or use a shuttle instead.
By bus & public transit
The one genuine transit route that reaches the festival's town: Amtrak's Route 7 intercity bus runs the full US-101 corridor from Martinez through Napa and Santa Rosa to Arcata, and stops in Laytonville itself (18 stops total; in Mendocino County it serves Ukiah, Willits, Laytonville and Leggett). Bus-only tickets (no train segment required) are sold for city pairs along the route. Board in Santa Rosa at the Coddingtown Transit Hub, 2012 Range Ave (stop relocated there from Edwards Ave in Aug 2023); the Laytonville stop is listed by Amtrak as station code LTV (posted roadside stop in town confirm exact curb location when booking). Service is roughly twice daily each direction (southbound arrivals at nearby Willits are 10:15am and 1:30pm, northbound 2:35pm and 5:45pm, per the operator's connections page verify Laytonville times for your date at booking). From the Laytonville stop it is still ~4-5 miles to the Black Oak Ranch gate with no local transit arrange a pickup or ride with a fellow attendee
Book / info →Local transit covers only the first hop: Sonoma County Transit buses stop near the airport at Airport Boulevard and Regional Parkway, and the on-demand SMART Connect shuttle links the STS terminal area with the Sonoma County Airport SMART rail station 1.1 miles east. SMART rail itself runs SOUTH toward Petaluma/Larkspur and does not help a northbound trip the point of this entry is purely to bridge from STS to the Amtrak Route 7 intercity bus stop at Santa Rosa's Coddingtown Transit Hub (2012 Range Ave), a short local bus or ~10-min rideshare hop from the airport. There is no local transit onward from Laytonville to the ranch gate (~4-5 miles) see the array-level notes

Uber and other rideshare apps have operated at STS since May 2019 (county announcement); pickup is at the curb directly in front of the terminal. But the venue is ~100 road miles north a one-way rideshare to Black Oak Ranch would run well into the hundreds of dollars, and the return leg is close to impossible to hail: rural northern Mendocino County has minimal driver supply and the festival's own FAQ says cell reception on site is spotty-to-none (Verizon only, partially). Realistic use is the short STS→Santa Rosa hop to meet the Route 7 bus or a rental car, not the full run to the ranch
Book / info →Taxis and rideshare such as Uber and Lyft can be limited near the venue, especially late at night or in rural areas. Agree a pickup point and time in advance and keep a backup plan.

On site parking available. Cost Onsite parking exists the official FAQ references a 'main parking area outside the campgrounds', with vehicle-camping spots adjacent to it. No parking fee, parking pass, or prepay platform is published anywhere on chillits.org; admission is a sliding-scale donation ($125, $500 suggested) and no separate vehicle charge is mentioned. Anyone bringing a camping vehicle must flag it during registration so the car camping coordinator can follow up. Wayfinding: 'Road signs for Chillits will be posted starting at the exit from US-101 onwards.'.
