The experience

What's special

Cville Sabroso is described as Charlottesville's largest Latin American cultural event, hosted by the local nonprofit Sin Barreras/Without Barriers under the Ting Pavilion's big tent (rain or shine) in downtown Charlottesville. It packs seven to nine hours of continuous live Latin music and dance, food from across Latin America, artisan crafts and hands-on activities 'for all ages, from kids to abuelitas,' with low-cost tickets supporting Sin Barreras' immigrant-services mission

Last time around (2025)

The most recent edition, the 13th annual Cville Sabroso, took place in September 2025 under the Ting Pavilion tent in downtown Charlottesville. Local coverage noted host nonprofit Sin Barreras running a community table with hands-on instruments for kids near the main entrance; the festival continues to draw more than 4,500 attendees each year

Getting there

How do I get to Cville Sabroso Festival?

By car

Most people drive to Cville Sabroso Festival. Check current road and traffic conditions before you set off, and see parking below.

By train
Amtrak (Cardinal / Crescent / Northeast Regional), Charlottesville stationDowntown Charlottesville arrival; ~0.8 mi to the venue · Varies by origin/date

For an overland arrival, Amtrak's Charlottesville station (810 W Main St) sits ~0.8 mi west of the Ting Pavilion / Downtown Mall, a walkable or one-short-rideshare last mile. Three routes call here: the Northeast Regional (to/from Washington DC and the Northeast Corridor), the Crescent (New York-New Orleans), and the Cardinal (New York-Chicago via DC). This is NOT a CHO airport connection, it's a downtown rail option for travelers coming by train

By bus & public transit

No scheduled intercity bus or public transit route to the venue was found. Drive, fly in, or use a shuttle instead.

Taxi & rideshare
Uber / Lyft; registered taxis; Monticello Coach black-car~15-20 min CHO to the Downtown Mall · App-quoted (rideshare) / metered (taxi) for the ~8 mi run to downtown

Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) is ~8 mi north of downtown. Uber and Lyft pick up outside baggage claim, nine registered taxi companies stage at the curbside, and Monticello Coach runs a licensed black-car service. There is no airport bus route, so this is the primary way from CHO to the Ting Pavilion / Downtown Mall

Book / info →

Taxis and rideshare such as Uber and Lyft can be limited near the venue, especially late at night or in rural areas. Agree a pickup point and time in advance and keep a backup plan.

🅿 Parking

On site parking available. Prepay via ParkMobile (reserve a garage space or pay surface-lot meters). Ting Pavilion recommends the Water Street Parking Garage (200 E Water St), a very short walk to the venue, with the Market Street Garage (550 E Market St) as the alternate (its structure also tends to keep ADA spaces free when full). Both take the ParkMobile app; several ParkMobile surface lots sit around Water St/1st St and Market St between 1st and 2nd. First hour free, then $2/hr

🚙 Car hire

Compare car hire

Handy for fly-in attendees, CHO has no airport bus into town, so a hire car covers the ~8 mi airport-to-downtown leg and lets you pair the festival with Charlottesville wine country / Blue Ridge day trips. Not needed if you're staying on or near the walkable Downtown Mall

Airbnb & private camping
Airbnb

Charlottesville has a healthy short-term-rental market around downtown, Belmont, and the UVA area, including apartments walkable to the Downtown Mall. A single-day September festival exerts light demand pressure, though early autumn is a popular Charlottesville visiting season (UVA football, wine country), so book ahead for the best downtown-walkable units. Hipcamp

Hipcamp lists a strong spread of farm, vineyard, and Blue Ridge foothill sites in Albemarle County and out toward Shenandoah, a genuinely appealing alternative for attendees who'd rather camp in Virginia wine country than take a downtown hotel room, though a car is needed for the drive in. Accessibility & comfort

What the organiser or venue publishes about getting around, and what they do not.

Disability access

Cville Sabroso is held under the big tent at Ting Pavilion in downtown Charlottesville, and the venue publishes the access information rather than the festival host. Ting Pavilion has a dedicated Accessibility Information page at https://www.tingpavilion.com/plan-your-visit/accessibility-information and an Accessibility section in its FAQ.

Read the full notes

The venue states it is ADA accessible, including an accessible route from the concession level to the seating area, that it meets the structural and service requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and that staff will assist during a visit.

Accommodation requests should be made by calling 434-245-4924, ideally at least 48 hours before the event, and the venue says it will also make reasonable efforts for later requests. For reserved seat events the venue offers accessible seating and companion seating at each available price level, bookable through Ticketmaster or by calling 434-245-4924.

Note that Cville Sabroso is a low cost general admission event, so that reserved seat provision may not apply. Service animals as defined by the ADA are welcome; emotional support and comfort animals are not. Low back lawn chairs are permitted in the general admission lawn area but tall back or reclining chairs are not.

Guests may request an alternative physical screening instead of the metal detector. On terrain, the venue FAQ refers to brick concession plazas, a covered Pavilion area, seating areas and a lawn, but publishes no fuller surface or gradient description.

There is no on site parking due to the urban location, and the venue recommends the Market Street Garage at 550 E Market Street, the Water Street Garage at 200 East Water Street and several AirGarage surface lots within a few blocks; no accessible bay count or distance to the entrance is published, and no accessible drop off point is described.

A free trolley serves downtown from UVA but nothing is published about its accessibility. Nothing is published on accessible viewing platforms, accessible toilets or a carer ticket. Festival host Sin Barreras can be reached on (434) 531-0104 or [email protected]

Confirm your specific needs with the organiser's access team before you travel.
