The experience

What's special

Festival Latino de Lexington is the city's flagship celebration of Latin American art and culture, staged each September in downtown Lexington's Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza. The free, city-run event centers on live music, dance, visual arts, artisan and food vendors and authentic Latin cuisine, and has anchored Lexington's Hispanic Heritage Month programming for roughly a quarter century

What people love

Attendees describe it warmly as a favorite local tradition, praising the free downtown atmosphere, the live music and the celebration of the city's Latino community. Families in particular single it out as a welcoming, kid-friendly event, and locals have cheered on community performers such as a high-school mariachi group

Last time around (2025)

The most recent edition marked the festival's 25th anniversary, opening Friday evening in the downtown Court House Square in September 2025 with more than 20 Latin American cultures represented across food, live music and cultural performances. Local outlets covered a lively, well-attended weekend celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Accessibility & comfort

What the organiser or venue publishes about getting around, and what they do not.

Disability access

The festival listing on lexingtonky.gov publishes no accessibility detail of its own. The event is presented by Lexington Parks and Recreation, a department of Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG), and the citywide LFUCG ADA notice covers its programs and activities.

Read the full notes

LFUCG says it will not charge people with disabilities extra fees for necessary help or services, and it will make reasonable changes to policies and programs on request. Requests for a reasonable modification go to Hannah LeGris, Access and Engagement Officer, on (859) 258-3382 or [email protected], or via the LFUCG Request for Reasonable Modification Form.

Nothing is published about terrain or surface at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza site downtown, accessible parking or drop off, accessible viewing or toilets, or a companion ticket policy, and the event is free and single site so no shuttle is described.

Ask Parks and Recreation Special Events on (859) 288-2932 or [email protected] for site specific questions

ASL

Not stated for the festival itself. The LFUCG citywide ADA notice lists sign language interpreters among the aids and services the city provides for effective communication on request, so an interpreter would need to be requested in advance through the Access and Engagement Officer on (859) 258-3382 or [email protected]

Confirm your specific needs with the organiser's access team before you travel.
