The experience
What's special
Frolic Weekend bills itself as the largest gathering of queer men of color in the country, five days of parties, performances and community events in Provincetown, Massachusetts, from June 16 to 20, 2027, its eighth year since starting in 2019. The program runs from mixers, talks and discussion groups to pool parties and late-night dance parties, with music across house, circuit, afrobeats, reggaeton, dancehall, hip hop, pop and R&B. It is built around five pillars: arts and culture, personal and financial wellness, community and connection, fun and adventure, and rest. The festival was created for queer and trans men of color and welcomes anyone who respects the space.
How it works
Tier 1 passes are $231.83 for three days (Friday to Sunday), $289.83 for four and $347.83 for the full five days from Wednesday, and a $449 Premium Pass adds Frolic Beach Club in South Florida over Memorial Day weekend. A pass covers the main events, from the pool party and dance parties to live performances, community programming, mixers and wellness sessions, with optional add-ons. Payment plans are available and prices rise after Tier 1. Alcohol is 21 and over, and on-site HIV and sexual health testing is offered at select events through Outer Cape Health Services.
Who it suits
Frolic Weekend suits queer and trans men of color, whom it was created for, and allies who respect the space and the culture being built there. It is a good fit for people who want more than dance floors, since mixers, talks, wellness sessions and pool parties sit alongside late nights of house, circuit, afrobeats, reggaeton and hip hop. Travelers who like a walkable, car-free town will find most venues on or near Commercial Street.
What people love
Attendees describe the weekend as being "like a reunion" with people they have never met before, and say Provincetown feels "much more inclusive" during Frolic than at other gay destinations they know. Visitors who travel in from other states say there is little else like it for queer men of color, with a crowd that is less racially homogenous than they find elsewhere. The nightlife also earns praise for bringing in DJs and performers from their own community, with hip hop and R&B sets alongside the house that tends to dominate gay dance parties.

Getting there
How do I get to Frolic Weekend?
Most people fly into Boston and then take a ferry or drive. The ferry is the favorite, since it lands at MacMillan Pier in the middle of town, so there is no last leg to organize and the harbor views come with the trip. Drivers follow the long road down Cape Cod, and a bus from Boston is the budget route. A small plane from Boston is the quickest way in, but Provincetown Airport is tiny, so pack light and plan connections carefully. Once you arrive, a car stops being useful: events cluster on and around Commercial Street, which has no parking in peak season, and the walk between venues is short. Check out each of the options below.

🅿 Parking
Cost $4 per hour up to $40 per 24 hours at the MacMillan Pier lot; $3 per hour up to $30 at the Grace Hall lot. There is no festival lot; events are spread across Provincetown and most are within walking distance of each other, so the car can stay parked. Commercial Street itself has no parking in peak season. The two staffed town lots are open around the clock and take cards only, and paid street and kiosk parking is enforced from 8 am to midnight. If your hotel does not include parking, the Provincetown Chamber of Commerce lists the options. Town rates and seasonal dates can change, so check the town's parking page before you arrive.
