Getting there

How do I get to Happy Valley Strawberry Festival?

By train 1
Amtrak Coast Starlight, Redding station (downtown Redding, not the airport)

The Coast Starlight technically stops in downtown Redding once a day each direction, but both trains pass through in the middle of the night with no connecting local transit running, and the station is still 15-plus miles from the venue. It is not a practical way to reach this festival, a car is needed regardless

Book / info →
Taxi & rideshare 1
Uber / Lyft and local Redding taxis~25-35 min · Roughly $35-55 one-way RDD to the Cottonwood venue, demand-dependent

Uber and Lyft operate at RDD with pickup at the departure level. The venue sits south of Redding in Cottonwood, so a rideshare run is longer than a trip into central Redding, and return rides from the rural campus can be scarce, so a rental car is usually the safer bet for the festival

Car Rental 1
On-airport rental counters at Redding Municipal Airport (Avis, Budget, Hertz and others)~25-35 min RDD to the venue

Redding Municipal Airport (RDD) is the nearest airport, roughly 15-20 miles / 25-35 minutes from the West Valley High School venue via I-5 south and Happy Valley/Gas Point Road. A rental car is the practical fly-in option: the venue is a rural campus with no transit service, and a car covers both the airport transfer and the last mile

Book / info →
By bus

No scheduled intercity bus or public transit route to the venue was found. Use the airport transfers or shuttle options above.

🅿 Parking

On site parking available. Cost Free. Admission and parking are both free at the West Valley High School campus. Parking is on the school grounds and nearby, first-come-first-served; the festival draws thousands over its two days (its 85th edition in 2025 drew big crowds), so the closest lots fill early and overflow spills onto the surrounding roads. Arrive early for the nearest spots

🚙 Car hire

Compare car hire

Car hire is the primary option for fly-in attendees: this is a rural Shasta County school-campus festival with no public transit or shuttle to the venue, so a rental car from Redding airport handles both the airport transfer and the drive to Cottonwood, and doubles as the way to reach nearby attractions like Shasta Lake and Lassen

Airbnb & private camping
Airbnb

The Happy Valley / Anderson / Cottonwood area and greater Redding have a modest short-term-rental supply of homes and cabins, plus Shasta Lake-area vacation rentals within a drive. Late-May festival weekend overlaps the start of the North State's busy lake season, so book ahead, but rural NorCal rates stay well below big-city levels

Hipcamp

Shasta County has good Hipcamp inventory, ranch, riverside and Shasta Lake-area private-land sites within a 20-45 minute drive of the venue, a strong option for anyone who'd rather camp in the North State scenery than book a hotel in town
