The experience

What's special

The Idyllwild Celtic Faire turns Hurkey Creek Park in the San Jacinto Mountains into a 16th-century Highland village inspired by Brigadoon, produced by Mountaintop Productions near Idyllwild, California. Visitors find Highland games and Stones of Strength, University of California, Riverside pipers and Highland bagpipers, Celtic clan encampments alongside Viking and pirate guilds, strolling entertainers and stage acts such as The Fenians, plus food, mead and games for all ages

Last time around (2025)

The most recent Idyllwild Celtic Faire ran over a May weekend at Hurkey Creek Park, a small mountain faire with Celtic entertainment, merchants and food set in the re-created village of Brigadoon

The games

Heavy athletics

The faire includes Highland games and Stones of Strength, along with kids' Highland games, and links attendees to the Scottish American Athletic Association; the athletics are a modest part of a broader themed faire rather than a full sanctioned competition

Pipe bands & Highland dance

Piping features the University of California, Riverside Pipe Band and a Highland bagpiper

Clans & genealogy

Celtic clan guild encampments appear alongside Viking and pirate guilds, offering demonstrations and a look at how people may have lived in their time

Taking part

Set as a 16th-century Highland village inspired by Brigadoon, the faire offers strolling entertainers and stage performers such as The Fenians, The Toasted Clover and Muco the Bard, food and drink including funnel cake and mead, and games for all ages
