What happened to Kōkua Festival?
A 20th-anniversary edition was originally scheduled for April 5-7, 2024, but the Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation postponed it in December 2023 and it did not take place that year. The official festival site currently displays a 'Stay tuned for details' message with no announced next edition.

How do I get to Kōkua Festival?
By car
Most people drive to Kōkua Festival. The nearest major airport is HNL, and from there it is a straightforward drive to the venue. Check current road and traffic conditions before you set off, and see parking below.
By train
Skyline light rail opened an HNL Airport Station in Oct 2025, but currently only runs from East Kapolei to a temporary Civic Center/Kalihi-area terminus it does NOT reach Waikiki or Kapiolani Park (that extension is still under construction as of Aug 2026). Not a practical route to the Waikiki Shell; noted for completeness per the transit-coverage requirement, but TheBus or rideshare is the real option

Route 20 runs from HNL via Downtown Honolulu, Kakaako and Ala Moana Center into Waikiki roughly every 30 min; stop is on Nimitz Highway outside the terminal complex (5-10 min walk from baggage claim). From Waikiki, it's a further ~15-20 min walk or a short local hop to Kapiolani Park / Waikiki Shell. Only ONE bag that fits on your lap/under the seat is allowed no large checked luggage. After 10:30pm, Route 42 covers Waikiki via Ewa Beach instead

The Waikiki Shell has a free, unlimited (incl. overnight) parking lot across Monsarrat Ave from the Honolulu Zoo, but it is small and fills quickly on event nights; additional free street parking is available along Kalakaua and Monsarrat Avenues (check posted signage for restrictions)
