The Mississippi State Fair, branded 'Let the Fun Begin,' runs eleven consecutive days each October at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in downtown Jackson. General admission is ten dollars, with children five and under always free and free admission for everyone on weekdays between eleven and one, except on Columbus Day. The organiser states plainly that rides, shows, animals, competitions and music are all included with that one ticket, the exception being a separately ticketed headline concert and the carnival ride wristbands, which run thirty to thirty-five dollars depending on the day
