The Monterey Scottish Games & Celtic Festival is a long-running Highland games founded in 1970 at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, bringing the athletics, music, food and performing arts of Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales to the Monterey Peninsula. It features the caber toss and heavy athletics open to amateurs, WUSPBA-sanctioned pipe bands, Highland dancing, clans, sheep dog demonstrations, living history and whisky tastings. The games appear dormant since their 53rd edition in 2022
