The experience

What's special

Moonshadow is a three-day, two-night camping festival of music, healing and art on Moonshadow Farm, an 88-acre property in Abita Springs on Louisiana's Northshore, from March 19 to 21, 2027. The music leans on Louisiana talent across funk, jazz, soul, indie, punk, rock and electronic sets, and a wellness sanctuary runs yoga, guided meditation, cacao ceremonies and workshops. The land has two labyrinths, two lakes, a watsu pool, a sauna and a non-denominational temple, alongside art installations, live painting and the Moonshadow Bazaar of local makers, healers and food vendors. It is run by A Glantz Incorporated, a female-founded nonprofit arts organization.

How it works

A General Admission Weekend Pass, which includes primitive tent camping, is $133.33 at Tier 1, and a single-day pass is $95.65. VIP passes add access to VIP areas from $177.78 for a day or $288.89 for the weekend. Every vehicle needs its own parking pass and only 200 cars fit on the property, so groups share rides. There are no ATMs on site, so bring cash, and the organizer suggests 10 gallons of water per person even though free water is provided. Pets stay home, except leashed support animals approved a month ahead. Portable toilets and three showers are on site, grilling is allowed but open fires only in raised fire pits, and the grounds are clothing optional.

Who it suits

Moonshadow suits campers who want a nature-based, sleep-over weekend where music shares the grounds with yoga, guided meditation, cacao ceremonies, art installations and a market of local makers. It is open to all ages, with children under 18 accompanied by a guardian, but the grounds are clothing optional, so parents should weigh that. Self-sufficient groups do best: portable toilets, three showers, cash-first vending and no charging points reward those who plan ahead, while a cabin, RV or bell tent rental adds a real bed.

Getting there

How do I get to Moonshadow Festival?

Moonshadow Farm is a country property on Louisiana's Northshore, reached by road from the New Orleans airport. It takes a limited number of cars, so ride-sharing and carpooling are encouraged, and both a pre-booked airport transfer and a rental car are options for visitors flying in. Groups camping together should coordinate their arrival so they can enter the grounds as one. Check out each of the options below.

Nearest airport MSY.

By car
Rental car from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International (MSY)Under an hour from the airport to most Northshore destinations

Rental counters are reached by a free shuttle from the long-term parking garage on level 1 near baggage claim, which runs every five minutes. Every vehicle on the farm needs a parking pass and only 200 cars fit, so share the car with your group.

Camping & Accommodation

Where do most people stay?

Sleeping on the farm is the heart of the weekend, and primitive tent camping comes with the weekend pass, so campers wake up beside the meadows, lakes and labyrinths rather than driving in each day. Those who want more comfort can bring a personal RV or van, though hookups are not guaranteed, or rent a cabin, an RV or a furnished bell tent on site. Anyone who prefers a hotel bed can book in Abita Springs or the nearby town of Covington and travel in each day. See the options below.

What to bring

Three days and two nights of camping on an 88 acre farm in rural Louisiana, with no outlets, no ATMs and a rain-or-shine policy.

Cash, not cardsThere are no ATMs on site, so bring cash. Some vendors take Venmo, Cash App or Apple Pay, but that depends on a cell signal and Wi-Fi is not guaranteed.
Charge everything before you arriveThere is no public Wi-Fi, no phone charging and no electrical outlets, so arrive with a charged phone and a power bank. Solar powered lights, a headlamp and spare batteries cover the dark.
Water: bring a big supplyFree water is provided, but 10 gallons per person is the recommended amount to bring as a backup, so load the car with jugs before you arrive.
Rain gear and mud bootsThe weekend runs rain or shine, so pack rain gear, mud boots and mosquito repellent, along with a tarp and extra stakes for the tent.
Your car stays where it is parkedOnce your vehicle is in its lot, it stays put for the whole festival except in an emergency, so there are no supply runs mid-weekend. Bring food, water, bedding and chairs in one trip.
Cook on a grill or stoveGrilling is allowed, but open fires are not unless they sit in an above-ground fire pit. A small stove or grill, canned food and snacks keep camp meals simple.
Toilet paper, wipes and towelsPortable toilets are placed around the grounds and there are three shower facilities, so bring your own toilet paper, wet wipes and towels.
Sturdy shoes and a swimsuitThe farm is rolling meadows and hidden groves, so sturdy shoes beat sandals. A swimsuit is on the festival's own packing list, and the grounds have a watsu pool, a sauna and two lakes.

Entry rules

Ages & IDAll ages; anyone under 18 must be with a parent or legal guardian at all times. The grounds are clothing optional.
ChildrenDiscretion is advised when bringing children, since nudity is allowed on the festival grounds.
