Shaky Knees is Atlanta's premier indie and alternative-rock festival, founded in 2013 and now settled into Piedmont Park after several venue moves around the city. Curated around guitar-driven rock, alternative and punk with heavyweight reunion-era headliners, it is prized as a lineup-first festival set in a walkable, downtown-adjacent green space rather than a remote field
What people love
Attendees rate the fest highly for its lineup and the easygoing, well-equipped park setting -- plentiful bars and bathrooms, free sunscreen at the medical tent, ample seating and shady spots, a good spread of food trucks and drink stalls, and the freedom to re-enter after ducking out to nearby restaurants. The main comfort caveats are Atlanta heat and, in a dry year, heavy dust across the grounds; drink prices also draw the odd grumble

For 2025 the festival swapped its historically fickle May dates for September (Sept 18-20) at Piedmont Park, drew roughly 40,000 fans and sold out Saturday behind headliners Deftones, My Chemical Romance and Blink-182. September sunshine largely cooperated, but a rain-starved month left the park notably dusty, and several attendees wore scarves or masks to keep the dust out. Red or Gold Line train runs direct (no transfer) from Airport Station to Midtown Station or Arts Center Station this is the route the festival itself names as the way in. From Midtown Station: walk via 10th St to Piedmont Ave, then two blocks to the 12th/14th St gates (or continue on 10th St until the park appears on the left). From Arts Center Station: walk south one block on West Peachtree St, then east three blocks on 14th St to the 14th St entrance

At ATL, Uber/Lyft pickup is consolidated to a single designated rideshare area reached via the North Terminal lower level/Ground Transportation Center (curbside drop-off is still available on the North/South roadways). At the festival end, there is no fixed rideshare address published the festival's own instruction is to request the ride to Piedmont Park and let the app route you to the nearest active pickup point outside the park after the show

On terrain the organiser is unusually frank: the festival is wheelchair accessible, but the site is large with great distances between activities, it is outdoors and across city streets and pathways, some travel is over natural terrain and terrain designed for motor vehicles, and if it rains there could be mud.
A separate Help Centre article says the festival grounds are a combination of paved surfaces, grass and gravel. On parking, there is no parking on the festival grounds; the SAGE parking deck shared between Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Botanical Garden has ADA spaces and is limited.
The closest accessible MARTA station is Midtown, a short walk east on 10th Street. Accessible entry lanes are at festival entrances, marked with the International Symbol of Access. The Access Center sits inside the Guest Services Tent near the main Festival and 12th Street entrance and issues free accessibility wristbands with no medical documentation required and self identification accepted.
Accessible viewing areas are first come first served and can reach capacity; locations are on the festival map. Accessible restrooms are throughout the grounds, with additional ones near accessible viewing platforms. Manual and power wheelchairs and three and four wheeled scooters are permitted, and powered device charging is at the Access Center.
The festival does not provide wheelchair or scooter rentals, personal care attendants, push assistance, golf cart transportation, personal escorts or chargers. Service animals are limited to dogs and miniature horses; emotional support and therapy animals are not permitted.
On companion tickets: each guest credentialed for the ASL Viewing Pit or an Accessible Viewing Platform may receive one free companion wristband, but that wristband is not admission, so the companion still needs a valid festival ticket.

Shaky Knees offers American Sign Language interpretation for select performances. Requests should be made through the Effective Communication Request Form no later than 19 August 2026; later requests are attempted but not guaranteed.

The interpreted performance schedule is posted on the schedule page. On arrival, visit the Access Center to register and receive an ASL wristband, which requires the use of American Sign Language during registration and is valid all weekend.
The wristband gives access to designated ASL viewing areas during interpreted performances only, first come first served, with one companion per wristbanded guest. Guests may bring their own interpreter, but that interpreter must also hold a valid paid festival ticket.
