What happened to Something in the Water?
City Manager Patrick Duhaney terminated Virginia Beach's sponsorship agreement for the 2025 edition in January 2025, after no lineup was released or tickets sold by the contractual deadline; no edition has been held since.

By car
Most people drive to Something in the Water. The nearest major airport is ORF, and from there it is a straightforward drive to the venue. Check current road and traffic conditions before you set off, and see parking below.
By train
Not a direct ORF or Virginia Beach connection relevant for attendees arriving by rail instead of flying. The Newport News Transportation Center (500 Bland Blvd) is the Hampton Roads region's Amtrak stop on the Northeast Regional route; onward travel to Virginia Beach from there requires a transfer to HRT bus or a rideshare/taxi (roughly 30-40 miles further)

Greyhound and FlixBus share a station at 410 Briar Hill Road, Suite 103, serving roughly 30 destinations including New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. From the station, a rideshare or HRT bus covers the final leg to the Oceanfront (roughly 10 miles)
Book / info →No bus serves ORF directly the nearest regular HRT route stop is roughly 1.5 miles from the terminal, so a rideshare or transfer is needed to reach the network. Once in Virginia Beach, the seasonal VB Wave routes (30 Atlantic Avenue Shuttle, 31 Aquarium and Campground Shuttle, 35 VB Wave & Bayfront Bus) run along the Oceanfront every 15-20 minutes, but only from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend outside that window there is no dedicated Oceanfront shuttle service, only HRT's standard year-round city routes

Uber and Lyft are fully permitted at Norfolk International Airport (ORF) with curbside pickup follow the 'Rideshare Pickup / App-Based Ride Services' signage out of baggage claim. Taxis queue at a separate curbside stand outside the Arrivals Terminal. ORF to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront resort area is roughly 18 miles

No on site parking. Use nearby lots or transit. Prepay via Frontgate Tickets (event shuttle passes); ParkMobile / PassportParking accepted at standard city meters and garages. Public parking directly at the Oceanfront festival footprint is limited to none during the event past editions ran a dedicated remote-parking-and-shuttle system based at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater (3550 Cellar Door Way), with shuttles departing there through the festival and the last shuttle leaving roughly an hour after each night's music ends. Driving straight to the Oceanfront core is actively discouraged in official event guidance; private pay lots are the fallback for anyone not using the shuttle
