Downtown Raleigh (Fayetteville Street)
Fayetteville Street is Raleigh's Main Street district, lined with more than 130 businesses including 60-plus restaurants and 15 bars, and connected to arts venues like the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts and Red Hat Amphitheater. Raleigh Wide Open takes over the street for free each October, with a Thursday kickoff at The Corner on NC State's Centennial Campus, then Friday and Saturday stages of bluegrass, Americana, folk, R&B, norteno and gospel, and no ticket, wristband or reservation needed.

A little history
Raleigh Wide Open is a free festival along downtown Raleigh's Fayetteville Street, opening with a Thursday kickoff at The Corner on N.C. State's Centennial Campus, then Friday and Saturday stages of bluegrass, Americana, folk, R&B, norteno and gospel plus an art market and food and drink, spanning several city blocks. No ticket, wristband or reservation is needed.
The festival began in its current form in 2013 when the International Bluegrass Music Association chose Raleigh for its annual conference and festival. When IBMA moved to Chattanooga after 2024, Raleigh nonprofit PineCone kept producing the music festival on its own as Raleigh Wide Open, drawing more than 150,000 people to the 2025 edition.
