Bio

Catherine Russell is an American jazz and blues vocalist born in 1956 in New York City. The daughter of bandleader Luis Russell and bassist Carline Ray, she recorded and toured widely as a backing vocalist before launching a solo career with her 2006 album Cat, and her records draw on the swing, jazz, and blues traditions.
